Searching and reading is anonymous

You do not need an account to search recalls or read a recall guide. We do not ask for your name, address, or phone number. Searches are used to run the search and to count how often a guide is opened. We do not build a profile of you.

Where the recall facts come from

Recall records come from public government data: the FDA openFDA enforcement reports, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. We store a copy of each record, the date we read it, and the link to the original notice. This site is not a government service and is not affiliated with any agency.

Email alerts

If you sign up for alerts we store your email address and the categories, hazards, brands, and state you asked to watch. We use them to send alerts about matching recalls, and nothing else. We do not sell or rent email addresses. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and your preferences can be changed or deleted from the link in any email without creating a login.

Brand listing claims

If someone claims a firm listing, we store the name, work email address, role, and any statement submitted, so a person can review the claim. Claims are reviewed manually and are never approved automatically.

Coverage found on the web

Below the government facts, a guide may link to news coverage and to a firm's own notice. Those pages are found by an automated web search, are labelled as such, and are not checked by us. Opening one takes you to that publisher, under their privacy policy.

Sharing links and offline use

A share link contains an opaque code for the guide. We store a hash of that code, which guide it points to, when it was opened, and when it expires. Links never contain your email address or your search history. Your browser may cache pages you have opened so they still load without a connection.

Site measurement

We record how the site is used so we can keep it working: pages viewed, searches run, questions asked of Ready, your browser and device details, and your network details — IP address, internet provider, approximate city and postal code. This is kept for 180 days and is never sold or shared for advertising.

Cookies

Public pages use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Administrator sign-in stores a session in that administrator's own browser.
